There's a Sierra D10 on Reverb and it's in OR. I'm in SWFL. Complicating matters is that I am new to this. I've been stung TWICE with total land fill guitars. I would PAY a tech or knowledgable player/nerd to GO there and check it out! Guys says "the only thing missing is one of the knee levers (available from Sierra made right here in Oregon"
Anyone interested? Or, perhaps you may "know this guitar" and can offer some thoughts...
Thank you all!
Todd

That's what I was thinking. If you're considering dropping $2500 on what could possibly be someone else's nightmare why not buy something new from a builder that stands behind their work? I never advocate buying used - especially if you're a beginner - but if you absolutely, positively must, buy from someone on our forum. You'll have a much better chance of securing a high quality instrument from a knowledgeable honest seller at a fair price here than you will on reverb.com where it seems the exotic words "pedal steel" are a license to inflate the price.
I clicked your link and noticed the ad says even though it comes with a case, if you can't pick it up in person they won't offer any kind of warranty! To make matters worse, "This item is sold As-Described and cannot be returned unless it arrives in a condition different from how it was described or photographed." To me, those are major red flags as you're taking all the risk and could easily be throwing $2500 down the tubes with no recourse. And I can tell you from personal experience don't expect Reverb.com to help you even if you have a valid claim that the item was not sold "as-described" and turns out to be another "land fill guitar" _________________ Hear my latest album, "Celestial" featuring a combination of Mullen SD12 and Synthesizers:

Don't know that particular guitar, but this model is no longer made. The Sierra company is a different company altogether and is run by Ross Shafer. It's a completely different guitar. I don't know, he may be able to supply a knee lever if it's just the lever itself v. the entire hub/linkage assembly.
The previous Sierra guitar models were built in Oregon, but that's been several years ago.
Ross' shop is in California.
The guitar appears to be in decent shape judging only by the photos presented. Probably late 90's vintage.
Sierra guitars generally are well built, sturdy and playable instruments and yes, they are a bit on the weighty side, however the Crown keyless model like this one has a shorter body so loses a few pounds if that's a consideration.
Perhaps there is someone near you who can check it out for you. Best of Luck. |

This one is a Session Series, not a Crown Series. The Crown Series had folding legs, and an older style of Keyless tuners, and a few other differences.
It looks like an 8x4 D10, with a missing LKL (you could easily make one).
I do not see any vertical levers.
It does not have tune-able splits.
It looks like it has 3 toggle switches on the rail for pickup selection.
If you play an 8x4 D10 I could see the interest.
I would ask for more pics from all sides, and a pic of the Copedant chart.
If you could have a phone conversation with the shop that is selling it, you could possibly find out who it belonged to and contact them for more info.
Maybe they have found the other lever.
I would also negotiate a return option. Like 48 hours and full refund minus shipping. And/or a lower price.
The company is no longer in business.
I am out of town until mid October so not much help on checking it out for you. |

Yes, you are correct of course. I did not notice the leg attachment. That puts it in the later build models. My apologies for the mis ID. |
