Being a newcomer to Steel Guitar I wonder if you could help me with this.
I've just found a recording of the Pedal Steel Guitar Convention - St Louis, Sept 1976
Where you can hear Buddy Emmons, Curly Chalker, Jimmy Day, Lloyd Green, Wally Murphy

Nr.28 is Fowl Play.
Nr.48 starts with Scarborough Fair, but than another song kicks in, what is the name?

#1 is Lloyd Green playing.

Is it Lloyd Green that plays both the songs or does Jimmy Day start with Scarborough Fair and then Lloyd comes in with Midnight Silence?

Jimmy Day first then Lloyd.....hard to tell for sure but it sounds like Jimmy Day to me.

| I could be wrong of course, but I think #48 is Lloyd Green Midnite Silence and also #49 is Lloyd, I believe. I've heard him play it at nearly every convention and it sure sounds like him to me. |

Jerry is correct...I believe that #49 is Lloyd playing Cold, Cold, Heart.
Also, #16 is not Steel Guitar Rag by Wally Murphy.
It may be his own composition or could be a Chalker Tune "Paper Cups" he's playing? |

Track 6 is Little Roy Wiggins. The song title is misleading - it's actually a medley of songs from his album "Memory Time". At one point Scotty calls out the name of the song "Molly Darling", which someone probably mistook for "Call Me Darling".
I'm really enjoying these recordings.

different types of steel guitar.

OK, I am reviving this old thread as there are some of the greatest pedal steel players on these recordings, and so many are no longer among us. And this site allows DOWNLOADS! Be sure to read through the thread, as each track is identified. I remember seeing this when it was posted, the first year I was playing pedal steel.
Along with the standards, you also have Buddy Emmons playing Sunny (anyone care to take a stab at tabbing that out?) and The Great Stream - these are two Pat Martino numbers, and those who know his history know Buddy was greatly influenced by Mr. Martino!
So, for you old timers, take a walk down memory lane at the International Steel Guitar Convention (which also is no longer among us), and you new guys? Listen to some of the greatest ever!
