This is in a Goodrich Steel Driver III. I need to replace it. It doesn't start working until you get to about 8. Any idea where to get one or get a replacement that will work?

That specific pot is no longer available (many wish it was).
The 500K/470K pots that are sold for volume pedals will work.

The pot Tom Bradshaw sells for volume pedals will work.

Thanks Jack,

I just went to that website. I'm wondering if the shaft is going to be too long for the Steel Driver III effects box. It has chicken knobs on it.

Tell Tom what length you want and he'll probably cut it for you.

Jack,

If it's not the pot, do you or anyone else know what else it could be?

The pot is the most likely problem considering the age of the device.

No schematics were ever released, for any Goodrich product, so troubleshooting is a shot in the dark.

Mark,
Goodrich now has the same design pot as your original.

It is called a Honeywell Clarostat.

As I mentioned yesterday, give Goodrich a call.

FYI: The Bradshaw pot is a great pot. I sell those. However, it has a very short shaft and may not be long enough for your Steeldriver.

If you can't reach Kevin or have any problems, let me know.

Bill

Can't these pots be rebuilt or parts interchanged?

Not really.

That's a very short term fix.

I was thinking in terms of parts like shafts that need to be longer. If one could adapt the existing parts to the only newer pots available to retrofit for the older discontinued part.

I have never tried that. I guess you would have to have two that were identical though and that seems to be the problem that we can't get anything identical anymore
