....if he wants to. Just found this and not sure how old (recent) it is, maybe 2015? When he’s been fronting Poco, he won’t get into psg, but if he plays as the brilliant side-man that he once was, we can see that he’s still got some chops and tone. Watching this reminded me of early Poco shows where I learned how he got harmonics with his thumb behind his ring finger. Ahh, I miss the early Poco, but what a time it was!

I saw Rusty fronting a Poco "reincarnation" around that time period. He was the only original member and the rest of the band were all hired guns - excellent musicians all, and a great sound. Rusty only played steel on Kind Woman. I asked him about it after the show and he said he didn't realize how demanding it could be fronting the band and he just had too much going on to play steel. I think lots of us owe Rusty a nod from the early Poco days for inspiring us to play steel. Classy guy and a great musician.

His playing got me hooked, was the Legend album, which then led me to earlier Poco, but Rusty is one of the top guys in my book!

*Nodding fervently*, and Bad Weather is the song that did it.
Thanks for posting, Mike. I don’t have to know anything else about Poco fans because they are instantly and automatically my friends. That’s a wonderful close-up of Rusty, and I enjoyed seeing Richie play his great solo too.

For me it's Honky Tonk Downstairs that dit it, both dobro and pedal steel made me smile every time I would put it on my stereo, sometime 10 times in a row, and I still love it to this day.

Yup. My first exposure to PSG was Rusty on Kind Woman. From that point on, I fell "Head Over Heels" in love with the instrument. Became a huge Poconut.

Edward, you’re right about Honky Tonk. Cool song, and really shows that they could play straight country as well as rock.
