For cleaning potentiometers, I prefer a cleaner with a lubricant such as fader cleaner/lubricant. _________________ I survived the sixties! |

IIRC, D5 cleaner then follow that with F5 which is the fader lube. F5 I think is a lube only, no cleaner in it. _________________ '81 Sho-bud LDG, 2 EMCI's |

Deoxit D5 does a good job of cleaning and lubing pots, but only if you use just a tiny amount, or disassemble the unit, or put lots of cloths or paper towels around the pots. D5 leaves an oily slime everywhere, great for pots but not so nice anywhere else. For cleaning pots in place, I like CRC QD, it evaporates completely. I've heard that Deoxit Gold leaves no residue, but I've never tried it. _________________ Long-time guitar player, now wrestling with lap steel. |
