Would appreciate any help on learning the birthyear of my MSA Classic, serial number 1C957. I got it way back in 2003 from Billy Cooper but intellectual incuriosity kept me from checking out its origin until the pandemic locked me down at home. Thanks for any info you can provide!

I'd guess it to be a 1974 model. |

Thanks guys. I was figuring it was early 70's. If there's any info as to the specific year, it would be much appreciated!

It was definitely made between 1970 and 1975. |
That's a "Micro" model, and I don't think they were even made in 1970 or 1971.

You night be right Donny.
One thing's for certain, those old MSAs have held up well, and are still are still perfectly usable, after 45+ years. _________________ Please visit my web site and Soundcloud page and listen to the music posted there.

Donny – What defines a micro model? I did a Google search and came up empty. How do you identify a micro and what years were they made?
Mike – My MSA is in tip top condition and remains gig worthy despite the pandemic!

Jerry that guitar will still be gig-worthy 100 years from now.
If, heaven forbid, there is a nuclear war, the only things that will survive will be those old MSAs and the insects. _________________ Please visit my web site and Soundcloud page and listen to the music posted there.

I have a MSA Classic White drift wood.S10 4X4 Serial Number 1C2921. I bought it Used in about 1997 or 98. I contacted Mr. Anderson or who got the records of MSA and they sent back, Born July 9th, 1974. Here is a picture of the guitar. Very close relative. 12 flat Key head with 10 tuners installed.

Jerry,
You should contact David Wright or Kyle Bennett (of the modern MSA). Last I checked one of those two has all of Maurice's old record books. |

Bobby - Nice looking instrument. Your serial number is about 2,000 later than mine, so I'm still figuring on an early 70's birthdate for mine.

Donny knows these older MSA serial numbers pretty well and has been doing a good job of dating MSA guitars around here for several years. I'm willing to bet he's very, very close. |
