I have played an Emmons set-up for
Over 50 years. I have had guitars with different knee lever set-ups and could always adapt pretty easily. I found a Day set-up guitar that I will be getting next week. Has anybody went from Emmons to Day? Am I in for a major struggle? |

my grandson is using the day setup. I have always used emmons,no preference just started with it.Playing around on day guitar I get lost pretty quick and frustrated.that being said, You would probably adapt fairly quickly after mental and muscle adjustments. |

Why don't you just change it to Emmons? _________________ Cops aren't paid much so I steel at night. |

Dick, switching it was certainly on my mind when I decided to buy it. I am going to take the lazy way out first and play with it for a while and see how I get along. I'm retired, live by myself, and am only leaving home for essentials. I have nothing but time and like challenges. |

Well alright then. I would add that I have played Emmons for years and on a few occasions tried the day setup but found it all to be very awkward. Good luck and have fun. _________________ Cops aren't paid much so I steel at night. |

I've always played Emmons setup since I got my first pedal steel in 69. I've considered changing to Day because of my feet neuropathy caused by chemo but never did.
However I used to sit in for a full set on a friends Zum with the Day setup back in late 80's and it only took one or two songs and I was OK with his Day setup. |

I'm relatively unqualified to comment here as I've only been steelin for 10 years, all Emmons set up. On the few occasions I played someones else's steel with Day set up, I was fine with the floor pedals but when I tried to combine them with the (different) knee levers it went off the rails quickly. _________________ Carters Starter, D10 8+7, SD10, Chandler RH-2, Rogue RLS-1

I started out playing Emmons setup, but a left ankle injury made it difficult to do B pedal squeeze in the A mover, so I switched over. I found it very easy, but I had only been playing a couple years |

George, I learned playing Emmons setup and played it for a number of years. Then I bought a MSA Millinium with Day setup, and decided to try it for awhile. After a few days it started to feel more natural to me than the Emmons setup. Try it for awhile, you might like it. Kenneth _________________ Promat D10, Goodrich, Milkman

Because of the covid, I haven't had any gigs since February. I have shut my band down until this covid thing is over. So now is the perfect time to try out the Day set-up. The floor pedals and the knee levers should not be a problem on their own, it's the combination that's going to take some getting used to. Everything is backwards. It should be good for my brain. They say to learn new things when you get old. |

I played Day for years when I bought a different guitar I always tried to buy with a Day setup or have it switched to Day, in may I had a chance to buy a PP Emmons and decided not to switch it and after a week it feels natural to me. |

My pedals are the Emmons setup and always have been. However from time to time, I've sat down at someone else's pedal steel with the Day set up. I really don't have a problem. I have to keep note that the levers are backwards and that can throw me at times. I feel I would have no problem converting to the Day setup if I wanted. I would just take some time. |

Good Lord!
Between the enraged blond and the dissapointed white kitty in front of the dish of steamed vegetables, I think I need another choice beyond Day/Emmons
I think I’ll go upstairs right now and change my pedal order to A-C-B |

When I bought my p/p it had a Day setup. It was a couple weeks before I was able to have it changed over to Emmons, but in those couple weeks I got fairly used to playing the Day setup. It wasn't all that difficult to make the change.
The only thing I really was missing was the ability to rock my foot on & off the A pedal with any speed, like I can with my usual setup, which is Emmons.
IMHO, it shouldn't be too hard to make the switch. |

As fate would have it, I wound up with an SD-10 which is an Emmons set-up instead of the S-10, which was a Day set-up. I'm not going to get the experience of learning a different set-up. At 75 years of age and playing the Emmons set-up for 50 plus years, I guess fate knew what was best. |
