I'm new to this site and looking to buy first 6 string lap steel. Undecided if new or used/vintage. Looking at Supro, Gibson BR-9, Magnatone, Oahu, Fender Champ. Don't want anything needing repairs, so also considering a new Hudson Old School Champ or Melbert. I will use it for country western/western swing. Any suggestions, ideas, comments,....are appreciated. What type of pu is better-older string through, humbucker, george L, ...? Also will be looking for lap steel instructor (or possibly psg instructor) to get me started in the right direction (already play Dobro and banjo) in Nashville, TN area.
