New Steel Player here (since Dec. 2019): So I'm a fairly tall guy, 6'2, and I've almost gotten my "comfort fit" sitting at my steel but I feel like it still needs to be raised a tad more. I bought extensions and raised it some but only works well if I have no shoes on. When I have shoes on my leg touches the bottom of steel, and my D/C# and G levers become harder to travel (due to knee placement being too high on the lever). Can you order steel rods at a custom longer length without the extensions? When I take the steel somewhere it seems the extenders and set nuts move and it gets me all flustered. LOL. Sometimes I think maybe a lower profile pedal will work but I really don't know. It's a 1973 Sho Bud Pro 1 custom, and I use the original pedal. Any tips appreciated.

How long were the extensions you bought? 2" should be plenty~~ way cheaper than getting new rods~ |

Go to a hardware store, and buy a a 10/32 threaded rod and cut them as long as you want them Jim is right. _________________ Sho-Bud LDG, Martin D28, Ome trilogy 5 string banjo, Ibanez 4-string bass, dobro, fiddle, and a tubal cain. Life Member of AFM local 142 |
