Ben Keith did some great work (as usual) on Graham Nash’s album Wild Tales. Anyone who hasn’t listened to that album should check it out. Here’s a sample:

Interesting that the style he uses on that cut is very similar to what you hear on current "pop country" and more rockish stuff with pedal steel on it - single-note stuff that soars up and down, versus speed-picking. _________________ Bringing steel guitar to the bukid of Negros Oriental! |

Between Neil's guitar and Big Ben's playing, this sounds as if it could have been a lost"Harvest"track, with a different lead singer.

If you guys haven’t heard the album Tuscaloosa, that was released not that long ago as part of Neil’s archive series, it’s a live album with the band from Harvest and Ben plays some really nice stuff. I love that Neil period. So good! |

One of the best nights of my life.... November 2005 I was on tour with the Everly Brothers, we were in Manchester, Graham Nash was there, hanging out back stage.... Pete Wingfield introduced us, he told me pedal steel was his favorite instrument.... I was so star struck! Then during the show, he came up on stage and sang a high part above Phil on “So Sadâ€.... |
