So I've been asked to play lap steel on a friend's country waltz. I'm looking to get in the right frame of mind before I start tracking. So, if you have a favorite waltz that has lap steel on it. Please drop me a link!

I had just gotten my first resonator when I recorded this. Three quite old Hawaiian waltzes in a medley that my teacher had me working on. Rusty in spots for sure (I probably need to pull the chart out and work on it again, its been a while!)

Check out JB's Old Timey Waltz from his instructional video on YouTube. I think it's in E7 tuning.

The above link is another idea for a song. Don't hear it very much today. I liked it so made it a steel solo. HNK wILLIAMS WROTE it and never recorded it. It was found after he had passed.

“When two worlds collide” is a very good waltz for steel. I use a modified B flat 13th tuning. I have no link for you but I really enjoy polishing it up from time to time With a tasty Occasional bar slant, Etc. Great Roger Miller tune.

the PA'AU'AU WALTZ is an hawaiian classic, fraught with ritardandi and grace--
check out tony ku's version on his 1979 "original hawaiian steel guitar" album, or jerry byrds version on "hawaiian style guitars".

"I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" is pretty spot on for a great country waltz, although I prefer it a little slower than the original recording.
