I actually thought it a bit greedy to put a price so high.If I had bought that guitar I would not be selling it but I can understand business I would have thought a profit of $2000 would have been appropriate.

Jack’s guitar is a bargain and a fair market value if that’s what you’re looking for. I see lots of people on here with opinions on what something may be worth, while there’s nothing wrong with that unless you’re going to actually negotiate with the seller, it’s none of your business! Anything I buy on the Forum is done in private only. I bought my Franklin in 94 for $4500.00 and it’s a beautiful instrument! I quit playing in 2000 and sold it for $6500.00, it sold again to someone who kept it for 10 years and it became for sale again and it was brought to my attention... I bought it back for 10 K ( Ten Thousand Dollars ! ) it was worth every penny. It’s often been said your house is worth what some fool will pay you for it, they keep going up, Mark Twain said “ buy land, they’re not making any more and they’re not making any more Franklins!! Jack’s price is more than fair and a bargain price indeed!!! IMHO!!

I can't believe you guys sometimes.

The Franklin is free.

You're paying the $14.5K for the:
- pack seat(perfect)
- a Goodrich VP and
- a ZB VP as well as
- a Goodrich dobro effect.

Am I the only one who realized this?

It's a guitar. I compare that "wish price" to the the prices of Bigsby guitars a few years back. They were asking $15,000 to $35,000, and even more! But in the end, it's still just a guitar. Speculators can do whatever they want, but I ground myself in the simple fact that no guitar will make me a great player, or a famous player. I'm impressed by players, and not what they use (or what some of them constantly come on the forum and brag about). Big whoop. That's why I don't have a signature line that tells the world what I use, and why I don't constantly brag about the stuff that I have. Who really gives a frap? Oh yeah, those gearheads and collectors, and believers in the "mojo universe".

Don't bore me with what you have, I'd rather hear what you can do! But that's just me. Neutral

I’m not sure why people think if you have something nice that you are trying to impress someone. I have nice guitars but do it for me. I can afford it and like nice things. I am well aware it doesn’t make me play any better. The signature line starts a lot of conversations, not trying to impress anybody.. the only person I want to impress with my guitars and playing is me......

Take a look at hand made acoustic instruments like guitars and F5 mandolins. Check out the vintage market on the same type of stuff. 14K will just get you started in many cases. Some of the nicest pedal steels I have played and laid eyes on are still bargains compared to my old Martin D28 or F5. Perspective

Just to be clear, I didn’t spend a small fortune on an instrument to impress anybody, it was an opportunity to get something back that was custom made for me in the first place. A missed old friend was coming home and for what it’s worth... I can play!!

Exactly, and I would do the same if I found an old friend as well

This is so true! Sometimes we forget how spoiled we are price wise with this instrument. In the professional classical world a starting price for a violin is 20K. Chew on that for a minute. Of course supply and demand have much to do with the relatively low cost of steel guitars. Think about how many guitar or piano players you know and then compare that to the number of steel players you know. There just arent enough steel players waiting around with cash to spare to send the market value up that high. Six string guitars on the other hand...

I have no opinion on this matter, you guys agains it are using arguments based on how good you can sound, guys for it are of the opinion that its a free market and relics that are rare hold value. I agree with both. I cant afford a franklin but if I could, I most likely would buy one. Since I cant I am perfectly content with what I have
