That is an interesting article. What is the copyright date on the material? In Lorene Ruymar's book there are quite a lot of early round nose bullet bar illustrations, but no dates. Gibson seems to have marketed them fairly early on, considering the style.

I wouldn't leave out the possibility of independent convergent evolution...could be that a number of folks "invented" the bullet bar...kinda like how the electric guitar sprang into being from a number of sources all around the same time. Fascinating history though.

| I have a quite heavy bakelite bullet bar by Nick Manoloff that came with my 1935 Model 25 Dobro, so assuming is it a 1935-ish piece. It's heavier than solid bakelite, so it has some core to it. It is indeed a bullet bar though. |
