Just had this mental picture of you putting your foot on the pedal and the rocking chair depositing you on the lawn behind.... ...but then, it's after midnight here right now, and I seem to get these sort of mental pictures at this time in the morning..... Laughing Rolling Eyes

...but it IS a great build ! Very Happy

It's the position of the hook on the finger.

Yes, it is. It may be intentionally bent to allow for hooking the springs on as shown in the original configuration.

One thing about adjustable springs is that they allow one to adjust the feel of the pedal/KL. It can be mis-used too as I've seen many that have adjusted them so slack as to not have the appendage return to zero properly.

Good feature if understood and used properly.

They are NOT intentionally bent.
The bend is caused by the tension on the spring.

Adjustable springs are a great help in making your guitar play easier. However, a hacker can whack a steel out into the unusable zone in seconds by leaning too heavily on the screwdriver. Small adjustments are the key.For decades all I every heard was how badly the fender 2 up 2 down[800/2000] cable guitars played. That was almost solely because guys had no idea how to adjust the lower return springs. I had those guitars playing butter soft, short, smooth and accurate, and it was all because they had adjustable springs. Different than todays designs but same effect on playability.. Adjustable lower springs can make a steel a pleasure to play, or destroy the action, and tuning stability.. bob

The adjustable springs made my parts bud do better. A tip for easy pedal action On the 2 over one bud changer use the top holes in changer for pedal pulls raises seems counterintuitive usually you would think the bottom row of holes would give easy pedal action she plays like butter know

I've always wondered about adjustable return springs compared to fixed, non adjustable springs. Just a visual comparison with the non adjustable spring it seems like you get more full diameter coils almost twice as much on a standard spring than on an adjustable spring. The adjustable spring narrows with smaller coils at the adjustment screw. To me this makes sense that a non adjustable spring will outlast an adjustable one. The effective spring length on an adjustable spring is about 1/3 less than std. springs. It seems like the more full size coils you have, the stronger & longer lasting the spring. Am I seeing this wrong?
Nice Job though Johnnie!

Longer lower-return springs may keep their initial resistance for longer, but for good-quality springs that should not be a problem. We all know that some do get problems with those springs though, so clearly not all are of good quality.

The longer the spring, the more gradual the increase in resistance will be for a given pull/stretch. I would like that, but if I had to choose I'd go for the adjustable solution. Pity those springs are a bit on the short side on most PSGs regardless of whether they are rigged to be adjustable or not.
