Interested in opinions on whether this 3/4 inch scale differential would have much impact on slanting capacity on an 8 string. Thanks

There will be a minimal but noticeable difference. The more critical factor is the string spacing, especially at the nut.

Easy way to test it for yourself...try slants at different frets. As you move up the neck, frets get closer together. I'm sure there is a way to compute this that eludes me, but in principle, comparing a slant at fret 5, vs the same slant at fret 7 or 6 will give you a bit of an idea of the general difference (simulated long / shorter scale respectively). But I'll defer to the experts as to whether I'm talking rot on that or not. In my experience its not dramatic...my preference has been for longer scales and that has more to do with tone...but then a lot of that is by comparing various steels of differing potential construction so it is hard to tell! In the end I chose to standardize on 24.5" just for my left hand muscle memory sake...

Thanks for the replies everyone. Really appreciate it. I have a 23.25 scale length; looks to be the key will just be lots of practice to get good sounding slants. Andy - very unique little angle calculator. Nice looking guitars too!
Slanting down at the bottom frets gives you a good idea of what's possible on abit longer scale for sure. I would thinking slanting way up high on the neck would be more challenging on a shorter scale as the hand movement for the slant is very slight.
