HI,

I am having an issue with my A pedal. It's an Emmons copedant- I recently installed leg spacers and pedal rod spacers on my Emmons, and set the A pedal slightly higher than the B. When I depress them both, the A returns to pitch, but the pedal returns to about the same height as the B pedal. However, when I press the C pedal, the C pedal returns, and the A pedal returns to the original (desired) height. I am thinking maybe I need to adjust the slack in one of the rods, but before I did anything, was hoping to get some help from forum.

Thanks very much in advance,
Adam

So the pitch returns, but the pedal doesn't come all the way back up, at least until you hit C-pedal.

Question: With the pedal in it's full-up position, if you pick the string and then slowly step on the A-pedal, does it 'catch' almost immediately and start moving the pitch? Or is there a lag... a little slack before it catches (say, when the pedal is about even with the B-pedal)?

If there's a lag before the string starts moving, try moving the pull rod one notch closer to the axle on the bellcrank.

But which string? We don't know if it's 5, 10, or both causing the problem, so first you should isolate the issue; unscrew the nylon nut on the 10th string so it isn't engaging at all and see if the problem remains with just the 5th. Take it from there based on results.

Tucker- you are the man. I was able to adjust the bellcranks- neither made a difference. But as I was detuning the 5th str nylon, I realized it was coming into contact with top of the open end. Somehow the changer was returning fully, but the nut was preventing the the rod from fully extending. Bent it down a bit, pitches are in and pedal returns fully.

Wouldn't have figured it out without your input- thanks again Smile

No problem... misdiagnosing mechanical problems is my brand. Glad you got it fixed.
