Hi everyone. My brother in law Don Faughnan (a member of this board - only post I saw was when he bought the National Console) passed away recently and he left me what looks like an old steel guitar volume/tone pedal. It is fully functional but the interesting part is that it has the name Don Diffie engraved on it with his phone number and a couple of the old address labels with his name on it. Turns out he was Joe Diffie's cousin. He passed in 06. Here's a clip from his obituary.
He brought joy and laughter to all who knew him. More than that, he brought music. Cousin to the country western star Joe Diffie, Don was always ready to jam with the many musicians who would drop by his home.
All that aside - I'm hoping the collective here can help me identify what type of pedal this is as google hasn't come up with anything, as I'm in the process of selling off all the equipment I inherited from Don. It turns on (light comes on) and unfortunately I don't have anything to test it with but I would believe it's fully functional.
Here's some pictures. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My best guess would be that it's an Edwards light beam volume/tone pedal. |
It sure does look like the Edwards Light Beam pedal I had from 1973 until a couple of years ago. I always carried a replacement light bulb, never had to use it.
Didn't know about the "tone" version. Guess that explains the horizontal movement. Did it have two light controlled resistor networks?
Cool pedal. It was quiet as they come, and five times as heavy. |

Yeah - that's definitely it.
So - second question - and idea what it may be worth? Looking past listings and no tone feature - looks like the $150 range. |

I recall reading warning posts about the electric shock potential of the AC powered volume pedals.
I would only consider this a "collectors" item. |

Except for having the brand sticker on the front,my (currently non-functional) Edwards volume and tone pedal is identical to Joe's. |

I tested it out with a Gretsch I have and it works flawlessly.
Thanks for everyone's input - it was greatly appreciated. |
