To all the Dads on the SGF .... Happy Father's Day!
Here are a few interesting positions I've discovered over the years in C6th tuning using open strings with fretted notes all at the 2nd fret. These sounds aren't genre-specific - I've used them in folk, jazz and Hawaiian music. Note that the naming of a few of these chords is a bit ambiguous and could change based on the bass note and key of a given song.

Very nice! There's so much in this tuning, I keep finding things. Here's a few that wind their way into my playing (useful for many genres but I think most of them came to me by way of Jules and Barney Isaacs):
Code: |
E|--0--------------------0--------------------0------0------
C|--2-----0---------1----5--------2-----2-----0------0------
A|--2-----1---------0----5--------0-----2-----0------1------
G|--2-----1---------0----5--------0-----0-----0------0------
E|--2-----1---------0----5--------0-----0-----1------0------
C|--2-----1--------------5--------0-----0------------0------

Edited to add...really don't know what to call a major 7th with a 6th...Maj7add6? Maj13 but with no 9 or 11? Ah well...it can be quite pretty though. _________________ Waikīkī, at night when the shadows are falling

You're welcome, Don. Nic, cool chords and I agree it can be tough sometimes and you can really get in the chord naming weeds pretty quickly. I saw a Joe pass instructional video in which he said despite the color tones, he only thought in terms of major, minor or dominant function. I like to know the why behind why something works but ultimately, all that matters is what your ears hear and playing music beats theory in my book. _________________ Steel Guitar Books!
