Looks like the old Motu 828 has given up the ghost.
It's firewire, it fires up, but the computer, Mac, does not recognize it. Tried different cable, tried it on a different puter, windows. Just won't be recognized.
Any ideas before I pitch it to make extra room in my cave? _________________ Just 'cause I look stupid, don't mean I'm not. |

Probably due for replacement anyway. That is an old "legacy" model. New units are either USB or Thunderbolt interfaces.
I had an MOTU 896Mk3 Hybrid, which has both Firewire and USB interfaces. I downsized my home recording studio and now have an MOTU 4pre, USB interface. |

Thanks for replying Jack.
You're more than likely right.
Just seems weird that it would just stop recognizing.
It's like the ghost in the machine.
I've left it alone for about a week, gonna give it one last shot.
Cheers! _________________ Just 'cause I look stupid, don't mean I'm not. |

The firewire interface hardware in devices are iffy. Some will only work with specific PC firewire hardware. Time to let that old interface go. |
