Gold Tone Square neck Dobro by Beard.
Perfect condition. Bought it brand new years ago with full intention on playing it but always focus on steel so it just sits. Never been out of the house. I paid almost $900 for it with immaculate case. Make offer!

Hi Ron. So is there a model number? How about wood type and actual age of the guitar? I’m interested in it for sure. Also, any pickup system installed? Thank you!

The label inside says PBS 2408011.
I bought it about 15 years ago and I was under the impression it was new.
There is no pickup or electronics at all.
I really don't know anything else.

Mark: you can email/call Gold tone in Florida and ask questions, they've been responsive anytime I had questions tho I don't have the number handy and their QC is excellent.

I usually try to steer clear of commenting on For Sale posts, but I think we could use some help here.

There are three production models of Gold Tone/Beard squareneck resonators. They are all designed by Paul Beard, produced in China, with final setup and assembly at either the Gold Tone Facility in Florida, or in a small percentage of cases, the Beard shop in Maryland.

The guitars set up at Beard are considered to be the most desirable, and in looking at the inside back on the bass side through the screen hole, there will be a sticker indicating as such.

This guitar appears to be the most affordable of the three, the PBS. The wood is laminate mahogany in the body. The next model up is the maple laminate. The top of the line is solid mahogany.

Two advantages to buying a brand new one from Beard. 1. They come equipped with the triple spun Beard Legend Cone which is pretty much the favorite of a high percentage modern players. This cone did not exist circa 2005. 2. If you buy a new one direct from Beard, along with the proprietary setup, if in the future you want to trade it in to upgrade for an actual made-in-Maryland Beard guitar, you can apply the purchase price toward the new instrument. Obviously it has to be in very good condition.

The price of a new Gold Tone/PBS Laminate Mahogany direct from Beard in 2020, including a hard shell case, is $1079. This should give one a frame of reference in making Ron an offer for his guitar.
