I had a Tonemater Twin. Really liked it and if It weren't for the size (I'm downsizing) I would still have it.
However, the mid must be on 10 (Max) for steel. When I first got it I couldn't find an acceptable steel tone and was going to send it back until someone mentioned setting the Mid on 10. Once I did that I was satisfied.
As far as the comparison to the Milkman with tubes. Digital modeling (what is done in the Tonemaster) can never equal the real tube sound. |

I am not a pro steel player but i think i know a littlw about tone, ive played guitar for 52 years and had many amps the fender twin i have which is a 1970 w/ TT-12 speakers in it prolly sounds as good as any amp ive had, when i started playin steel i had a peavey guitar amp then bought a NV 400 then had the opportunity to get 2 evans fet 500 then bought a webb from jimmy webb in 2001 and kept it till 2017 and dave beaty made me a deal on a telonics amp w/a lexicon 200 in it..... i got rid of it and got a quilter steelaire but now im back to webb which for me sounds great but what i also do is use my head of the webb plugged into my fender twin with the TT-12 speakers that combo sounds so good. the tone master i mainly bought to use for guitar. i also have a 202 tone block and a speaker box. im just partial to the webb and really wished i had my telonics back. Sorry for the narrative. |

Fender Tone Master Twin Reverb 200W 2x12 Guitar Combo Amp $999 33 lbs.
Milkman 85W Amplifier 1 x 12" $2999 44lbs.
(no weight listing for the 2 x 12" model, but probably 10-12 lbs heavier) _________________ Emmons & Peavey |

I have used many different amps and speakers . The one thing I have learned is TONE is in the hand as well as the equipment we use . This head with that cab with this or that spkr . Sometimes it starts to sound like a snake oil sales pitch LOL. For those who can afford to experiment with different products I think that is great ! I too fell into this black hole . I bought a Revelation Tube Preamp 12 yrs ago . Before that all I had were twin Session 500s .My point is that the Revelation didnt sound any better than the Peaveys .I understand the weight issues and other reasons for changes in what we use. I have played in clubs and casinos for many yrs and I understand what good tone is . Guys good tone doesnt come in a bottle or a gadget . Just when you think you have that sound you want something else comes out . LOL IMHO .. |
