Sounds like Bob White to me but I'm probably wrong. A very classy arrangement on that tune for sure...JH in Va.

Floyd L. "Bobby" White was born 15 June 1932 at Jenny Lind, Arkansas

Bob White was a world class musician, master of the steel guitar. He played, as a teenager, with Bob Wills' Texas Playboys. After leaving the Playboys, Bob joined up with Hank Thompson's Brazos Valley Boys. The Brazos Valley Boys were selected country touring band of the year, by Billboard Magazine, for 14 consecutive years.

I'm pretty sure the discography on that is right, I know my Pa played on that, but there were two steel players. I can tell just because I know his style so well which licks are his. You can hear him on this cover he did with one of his western swing bands - The Heart of Texas Band - at www.reverbnation.com/peeweewhitewing playing it in the early 90s.

Cheers!
Andie

I actually got to sing this with him once when I was in my early 20s at the Texas Steel Guitar Association home base in Mesquite, Texas.

This from a pretty comprehensive discography on Hank Thompson's official website:
