Paul Franklin Method touches on it.

In this context, does "counterpoint" mean contrary motion?

Ian - yes I suppose that might be it , I'm unsure of all the lingo , I just know some notes are pivoting upwards and downwards all at the same time , especially on these slow songs it's really neat . I've seen YouTube videos where they touch on it a little and same with the paul franklin method it's on their as well . Just curious if there's anything out there where I can really dive into it .

Frank - I'll check out the PSGA Newsletter that would be great , thanks

Counterpoint is two melodies that are harmonically similar but independent.

Yes, I know. That's why I thought that the term was being used to describe melodic lines moving in opposite directions, which is something the pedal steel doesn't do naturally.

The best moves involve those strings that can move more than a whole tone, like 6, and in my case 8 - on my uni I raise it to F on the left knee and lower it to D on the right.

I'll look out some examples when I have time. Can't believe I said that under the current circs, but I started a landscaping project and the weather's good right now!
