I'm about to take delivery of a fine custom built eight-string console steel. It's currently fitted with a set of four angled legs. My music room is very small (significantly smaller than my wife's wardrobe area... how's that fair?) so I'm considering situating the console at an angle in one corner. This would mean three legs in a triangular set-up, as opposed to the current 'one at each corner' positioning.
So, three or four legs.... thoughts on pros and cons appreciated.
PS I owned a budget lap-steel years ago, a light-weight six-string with three screw-in legs, I recall that the set-up worked but always felt a little 'shaky'... would that be the case with a heavier instrument with more substantial legs?

You might try rotating the front sockets so that the legs point into the corner. No less stable than three legs, I would have thought.

That's worth a thought. I knew it must be a UK reply, no time difference! How are you all coping? (I'm a Devon ex-pat btw)
