I've got a new knee lever on the way, and want to finally fully populate the C6 copedant, so I'm gonna need several of these. It's a very early ZB; these do what the spoke-end at the changer does on the later design.
It looks like its just 1/8" rods stacked. Would I be able to braze something like this with a MAP torch? I've done a little welding in the past, but don't have access to a shop or the gear right now. All tips welcomed.

Some of the later ones also had a spoke attached like this one from #0669...
The ones I've had appeared to be brazed on with silver solder. I've made a couple using silver solder and a propane torch - didn't even need MAP.

From the picture it looks like the filler (Short middle piece is actually folded and formed with the short curved piece. That would make it easier to hold just 2 pieces together instead of 3 separate pieces and keeping them aligned.
There is a silver solder,(I used to get it from the local commercial refrigerator/Freezer tech.) that worked great with a MAPP torch and very strong. It was like a sheet cut into about 1/8 inch wide strips. It actually had some silver in it and they based the price off the silver market. |
