Hi,
I have a GFI guitar with the GFI 'I' pickup. I was considering trying a GFI 'II' pickup to upgrade and I was wondering what difference I can expect from this? Has anyone done this before? Also, does anyone know where I could find a GFI 'II' pickup.
I truly appreciate any insight you all have. |

Mine had a GFI II pickup when I got it. I changed it out to a E-66 and it made a world of difference. I much prefer the E-66. |

Try Bob at GFI for a GFI II.
I like that pickup - it sounds Fendery to me, but with modern sustain qualities. Very thick, juicy and resonant. Most other steel pickups have far too much top end IMO. |

I have a D-10 ultra with the GFI II pickups. I recently tried a GFI with the original E-66, and liked it much better. Needless to say, I have the E-66 pickups now. I wouldn't say one is better than the other, just different. |

I had an old GFI with the Barcus/Berry pups in it. They were both dead when I got the guitar. Something about the materials used in their construction I believe. Got the newer model pups direct from GFI. Great service. |
