Hi fellow forumites,
I’m thinking of pairing up a Neodymium speaker with my Gallien Kruger MB-200 head, as a lightweight ‘throw and go’ amp.
It could be either a 15†or 12â€.
Has anyone here put this combination together, and have suggestions/preferences?
Thanks in advance!

I have the MB500. I connected it to my quilter steelaire combo cabinet to try it as a backup in case the quilter ever dies. It was really nice. I tried it at a couple a bars I work and it sounds fine with a TC Electronics Hall of fame reverb pedal. I'm waiting on my new Tommy Huff Cabinet. I will install a Black Widow as I don't currently have a neo speaker. I feel it will also sound good. We'll see. _________________ Cops aren't paid much so I steel at night.

Eminence EPS-15. Add a reverb and it sounds fabulous. |

Hi guys,
Thanks for the input!
Dick,
What speaker is in the Quilter?
Ken,
That EPS-15 seems pretty popular on the forum.
I’ve been using a Boss RV-3 with the MB-200, and find it works well.

Lee, it's an Eminence EPS-15 if I'm not mistaken. I haven't looked back there in a long time....lol _________________ Cops aren't paid much so I steel at night. |

Thanks, Dick!
I’m seeing a pattern here with the EPS-15.
Wish I’d managed to buy one when they were blowing them out at Eminence. |

Lee, I have the MB200 I use with a 12inch Sica neo, I also have a separate 15inch Telonics in an old Peavey cab which I can use either separately with the MB or can connect both. My preference is the 12inch Sica, it seems brighter, the Telonics sounds much more mellow, and top end has to be boosted to get it sounded anywhere near the Sica. I use Digitech RP 150 for delay/reverb, have tried Zoom G2 and separate reverb delay pedals, no great difference to tone.

Hi Malcolm,
Thanks for sharing your experiences ... that’s very helpful to me.
I have a cabinet that will accommodate either a 12†or 15†speaker ... I can just switch out the baffles.
Fingers crossed I can now find a good deal on a (used) speaker. 😊
I’m thinking either a 12†or 15†will work for my application.

Lee, can recommend the Sica if you can find one, Ken Fox used to fit them in the amps he built. The cab I used is 18 x 18 x 9 inches weight is just over 20 Lbs with amp and speaker fitted. _________________ MSA Millenium SD10, GK MB200, Sica 12inch cab, Joyo American Sound Pedal/ Jay Ganz Straight Ahead amp, Telonics 15inch in Peavey cab, Digitech RP150, Peterson tuner.Hilton volume pedal.Scott Dixon seat and guitar flight case. |

I keep a MB200 tucked in the back of a Telonics Mini 12 cabinet with a Furlong 12†speaker that I occasionally use for quick gigs. Weighs in at about 20 lbs. That said, I usually use the Telonics Mini 12 combo that’s only about ten pounds heavier... _________________ John Macy

Thanks, John!
A 12†would certainly be a bit more compact solution for me.
Still weighing options, and appreciate everyone’s input!
