Buddy Emmons put this out many years ago explaining his basic use of the C6 neck. And what notes he uses to get some of his pockets ("Painting yourself in a corner"). Not licks per se, but areas you can go to be safe during a jam session to put lines together. This being in the key of C.

I thought for years no one put audio to these GOLD NUGGETs, which helps bring them to life. The notes from the open position to the 12th fret as I demo. After that demo of the Emmons idea, I put them to use in some real basic licks, but they all touch on what Buddy showed us on this.

Don't let this old article go by the wayside for you newer players. There is a lot to learn and use on these nuggets.

nice work,
it does seem that pockets help us play more musical lines,
with more interesting intervals,
thanks for posting.

Sam,
Is there many Steelers down there and is it traditional Country music?
