While I'm sure this a pedal steel playing in this song. It's pretty easy to do a good job on it with a lap steel. Let me know who tried it, and what did you think?Maybe since we are all at home someone can send in a clip of them playing it? Chuck Lettes, Doug Beaumier, Mike Holland, Mick Hearne?
Some nice steel playing in this song. I remember POTM from the 80's......some good songs.

As long as we're acronaming, I think it sounds more like CC and the LPA! Thanks for the link Bill, I wasn't familiar with that band.
