I’m on my last leg here before I just take the pickup out and try to sell it. I install an L710 into my Sho Bud, the tone is great but something isn’t grounded so whenever I touch a metal part like the changer or the knee levers, there’s buzz/static. I’ve tried everything I can think of, mind you this pickup only has 3 wires, white-hot, black-ground, and red-coil tap?(I think), I’ve attached white to hot and black to ground and left the red alone seeing as I don’t have a switch, I’ve tried red and black together with white alone, same result. I’ve even tried running a wire from the ground to a screw in the changer and end plate along with the ground wire, still same thing. I don’t know what else to do and I’m afraid I may have to sell the pickup....

Have you taped over the exposed wires on the red lead to prevent any chance of contact with metal parts underneath? When installing a pickup I normally tape the ends on the unused wire and secure it to one of the remaining wires with a small nylon tie. Also may want to check your wire routing method from the pickup to the jack to insure that it is free from direct contact with any moving parts.
