Unfortunately, Doug has succumbed to the coronavirus. People, if you're not yet taking this pandemic seriously, this is your wake-up call...
From Doug's Niece:
Quote: |
The world lost an amazing man of God today. My Uncle Doug, who has impacted my life in more ways that I could ever being to express, has gone home to the Lord. Unfortunately, hospital regulations prevented his wife of 50 years from being with him. Please continue to pray for Aunt Stevie during this very difficult time. For those of you who think Covid19 isn’t anything to worry about or “no worse than the fluâ€- YOU ARE WRONG. Please be smart. Your actions will have consequences to your family, your friends, and your neighbors. We are all in this together. Make sure the people you love know that you love them! |

I'm grieving for those that Doug left behind but Doug has traded his steel guitar for a golden harp.
Bless his heart.

Rest in peace my friend. He is the first friend that I knew that passed from this horrible virus. Doug was a man of God . He treated everyone with the up most respect and kindness. He also gave me the honor of playing the gospel portion of the ISGC. We will all miss you . God bless the family during this trying time in the USA. |

I attended one of his Gospel steel shows in Indiana and had a wonderful time. Doug was a great guy and made everyone feel welcome. A great loss to our industry and the world. God bless Doug and his family. |

So very sorry to hear this news . . . . Doug was a fine person and admired by all. He was a big help to me many years ago when I was producing the "Gospel Steel Guitar Showcase" program for radio. Also I always enjoyed Doug's Sunday morning Worship services in the Millenium Hotel Ballroom at Scotty's ISGA in St. Louis. Everytime I see a Deckley Steel, I'll always think of him. |

It’s heartbreaking to hear of Doug’s final days without Stevie. What a wonderful human being he was! We pray especially for Doug’s beloved Stevie as she still struggles, and for the family and friends who cannot be at her side.
Rest in peace, Doug...🙠_________________ Donna Dodd
