Has anybody tried one of these? I’m pretty happy with the thumb pick I’m using, but as someone who occasionally plays steel with a guitar around my neck doing double duty, these have perked my curiosity

Interesting, I checked out the website and not sure about sizing. It looks like a one size fits all.

The spring loading seems like a different way of implementing something like the Fred Kelly Bumblebee pick - https://fredkellypicks.com/product-category/bumble-bee/

I double on guitar a lot too. I have some of the Bumblebees - my comment is that they are sort of neither fish nor foul. Not really a great flat pick, and not really a great thumb pick either. As a thumb pick, they feel too floppy on my finger and the blade is too clumsy in comparison to my main thumb pick, which is a Fred Kelly Regular Delrin. As a flat pick, they're too light and click too much - I use tiny, heavy & rigid flat 358 jazz picks a la Roy Buchanan and Danny Gatton. Anything bigger than that feels awkward anymore.

I am curious to try these - $20 for 3 seems reasonable and I'd love to find something would truly bridge the gap. I certainly have plenty of time on my hands to try stuff. But how big is the flat pick? If it's a regular 351-sized flat pick, forget it, that's way too big for me. Stu, when you get 'em, could you please give us a report?

Thanks for posting that, I was going to buy a couple at Wintergrass (bluegrass festival in February) but I forgot and couldn't remember the name.

They're the only comfortable t'pick i've ever put on, I tried one for a couple minutes on ukelele, but i don't know how to play uke. The tip is going to take some sharpening, but that's true of all my thumbpicks except hercos.

Dave...the Bumblebee pick never worked for me either. Actually I’m using the Fred Kelly “speed pick” now and love it! It’s almost good for guitar too, but still not quite there for up stokes. Since Stu took the plunge so quickly, I think I’ll wait for his report back to us 🤔

I just received 3 Black Mountan thumb picks. Just my opinion but the thumb part of the pick seems loose and feels like it slips. YMMV

Just got some of these yesterday. I struggle with finding a thumb pick that works for me (I have a Fred Kelly Slick that plays nice but feels bad, and a Golden Gate XL that fits nice but plays bad). I've got monster thumbs, but so far the Black Mountain feels pretty good.

I'm going to give it a few months. My biggest complaint about most XL picks is that I feel like I'm trying to maneuver an airplane wing on my thumb. So far the Black Mountain isn't giving me that problem.
