I made these two bodies six years ago for a friend who had some parts of fender lap steels. They have returned to my shop

This one is a copy of an fender 57 champ my friend asked me to buy.

It has some variations respect to the original model. One is that the pot cavity has access for the rear side.

The wood is Arce europeo (European maple)with a good quality grain.

I remember that I gave it a goma laca treatment in the style of the spanish tradition of guitars makers and the guitar had a wonderful look, but my friend told me that he intended after that apply a more classic fender white . The guitar presents little rest of nitro white paint. I've done the first sanding but still needs little work.
Any tuning pan of a fender six string lap steel will fit in this body ( see the picture).

In spite of this body was constructed to fit the pickguard of the fender model, my friend beveled the borders of the pot cavity. Due to this it left a little hole ( see the the point of the screw) that would be filled easy with any wood paste or soor maybe makin another resized home made pickguard ( i can send a paper template with the mearuments of the original pickguard)

Because of this imperfection I sell this body like a B-stock at 80$. I'll ship worlwide ask for shippin cost

The next one I built is basically the same model but it has an elevate neck and a standard type of headstock . It was for the daughter of my friend who was interested in playing steel guitar.
The guitar is made of spanish cedar, a soft wood with a mellow tone. Is more used to build the necks of spanish guitar due to his stability. Moreover is a wood easy to work. The bad thing is that someone thought that it needed a terrible pink colour Confused

I've sanded a lot of paint to see the natural colour but it has still some of paint. The cedar is a porous wood with open grain.

My friend made holes for the tunners and for string throught the body. Not a quality job but not bad. In the picture yopu can see any kluson tunners (below)or any kind of cheapo tunners (top)will fit the holes. The pickguard of an fender champ lap steel will fit without problem.

I sell this body at 90 $.I'll ship worldwide form Spain. Contact for shippin cost
I still have the molds and templates so If someone is interested in a new copy of a fender champ lap steel body I can made by order.

Hi. I am in the process of building a fender champ lap steel, I see some time back you mentioned that you had the outline of the scratch / pickup plate? Do you happen still have that available? Thanks.
