My version is more laid back and Latin, and I managed to cobble together a drum track and played bass and now I have a demo for my band to play it on our next gig.  The soloing is just first take stuff that I am not thrilled with but can live with. Why am I posting then? I dig the way it sounds on steel. How many know that Allan played some pedal steel? In fact, it was Tony Williams' pedal steel that he played on a CTI recording.

Some beautiful sounds here. Your soloing over it takes me back to when 'road music' was a genre. I could drive all day with this.

| Wow Mike! This is great! I have listened to a lot of your stuff, but this one, and your Jeff Beck cover are my favorites so far. The solo is very inventive and fluid. The drum track is also very impressive. It has taken me a lifetime to realize the value of being able to think like a drummer or percussionist and grok rhythm at the same level as harmony and melody, but it appears you have done that homework long ago. Very well done and good luck getting the group to play it as well. |
