I am trying to get an estimate value of a brown walnut colored double neck Emmons pedal steel in good condition. The serial number is 3447413. What year was it made and what`s it worth? |

I've never seen an Emmons serial number like that. With the exception of the earliest guitars 1964-early 1965, all serial numbers were either 4 digits, 4 digits/1 letter, or with LeGrandes 3 digits/1 letter.
Can you post a photo of this guitar? _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

Hi Herb, Forgive my ignorance. The number on the right side of the top must be a pat.no. I assumed it was a serial #. I just looked underneath and found 1998 D. The guitar is in really good condition. |

The guitar was made some time in the mid-late 1070's.
Without knowing the number of knee levers and photos of the undercarriage and topside, a close estimate of value would be difficult. "Good condition" is about as imprecise a description as can be, since everyone's opinion of what "good" is can be, and usually is, different.
With that said, I'll leave it to other forumites to estimate what's it's worth, since I'm not in the market for yet another steel guitar. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

as a comparison, my 1981 with 8+4, Brown Mica in near excellent condition is valued between $3200 and $3500. It just depends on "who's buying " and the desire to own a Push Pull.
There is no definitive value until someone makes an offer !
That being said, I owned and sold a BLACK '83 Push Pull 8+5 a year or so back where the value was under $3K. It was in average condition. _________________ Emmons L-II , Fender Telecasters, B-Benders , Eastman Mandolin ,

Hi Tony, Thanks for the estimate. The guitar has standard 8 pedals and 4 knee levers. It belonged to the late Pete Creslo who died 20 years ago. It had been in a well built Greer case all this time. His widow Jan Magliarditi would like to give it a good home. Jan tells me he had played with Kitty Wells, and was also a friend of John Huey and Vince Gil. We were going to take the guitar to the wizard Tommy Cass for more info or to make it shine. You might have saved me a two hour drive. |

If Jim Greer in Houston made the case for this guitar, it's a solid case. I have a couple cases he made. I believe Jim passed on more than a few years ago. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

In a conversation with my friend Harry Teachman he found that serial #`s 1826 D-2024 D were all 1974. Wow! Thats 198 D steels in one year. Also Harry thinks I should keep/buy the guitar. I would if I could play E9, or was strong enough to carry it to the gigs. The case has wheels, and I like the Emmons tone of the steel. |

Bumping up. I read where Lloyd Green asked to use a Peavey Session 400 at the recent Dallas Show. Jan Magliarditi is selling her Emmons steel with a Peavey Session 400 amp plus a nice folding seat. The amp has wheels. |
