I'd buy this one first https://reverb.com/item/32880990-emmons-pedal-steel-guitar-d-10-a-8x4-1982-black-mica
Looks to be in much better condition and is a derivable distance from you.

Man, that thing is beat! If you love it, or can restore it yourself, fine. But if you buy it and have to pay someone else to restore it, expect the job to cost several thousand dollars.

Due to the "Corona-sky-is-falling" panic, I think we'll be seeing a buyer's market on a lot of things, instruments included, so I'd offer no more than $1200-$1500. Money's soon going to get very tight for a lot of people. Confused

It's not just shipping. There will probably be import/export taxes as well. I bought some speakkers from Canada. The additional taxes turned a good deal into a mediocre deal.

By all means consider the guitar Brian recommended. It's in much better condition and it is in the U.S.A.. The first one looks to be in Germany and if so, the shipping would be astronomical.

I've just checked the price. DHL wants ca. 120 US dollars.

I'm quite interested in this. But before I will send them a price suggestion: Are those fretboards available anywhere?
The guitar needs new ones. Cologne is not so far away, so I can drive there to check all the other conditions.
Judging from the look of the case, it had been used a lot.
Maybe some professional player sold it to avoid the hassle taking it back to the US.
This was not uncommon.

New fretboards are available, Joachim. I got one from Lynn Stafford in Oregon a while back. I'm sure they're also available elsewhere.

If you do purchase that instrument and get it set up in good, playable condition, you will never regret it. According to my friend and noted push/pull guru Clem Schmitz, those guitars are almost impossible to wear out. He also told me that the loosest, most "broken in" Emmons he ever saw (and he's seen a few of 'em) was this one right here:

That is just about the most beat up looking Emmons I've ever seen, but it is a fatback which some people think is more desirable. I can't tell if it's the wide spaced pedals or not. It might actually play well as is, with just new strings and a bit of cleaning and lubrication. Or it might need a total rebuild.

Cosmetics are another issue if you care about such things. Willy Nelson still plays Trigger when most people would get a new guitar.

do these come up in your area much?.......are you getting any younger? lol

go see it. check the parts that are expensive to replace and see what condition the changer parts are in. make a stupid low offer and start dealing. looks to me like a lot of polishing will result in a nice guitar. unless you can find a good deal, i wouldnt put new boards on it...i would look for some good take offs. they would look more natural and they are usually not hard to find. i know i have one or maybe two around. used fretboards would automatically look a thousand % better than these do.
Viel Glück
