I just sent off a Short Scale 8 string Frypan to Russ Blake who will be bringing it to the TSGA event next week. If any one is wanting to check it out, look Russ up. I'm sure he will be spending a bit of time at the Non Pedal Room.
The guitar is available for purchase, or just to check out and play. I sent a few bars as well. A 7/8 X 3.375, 13/16X 3 and a 3/4 x 3.
Here's a photo of the steel, hanging out with a few other beauties in the making !
Also be sure to ask Russ about his new CD "Lowering The Bar" . Excellent tone and playing . His tune "Freckles" is a modern day non pedal classic and worth the purchase alone. Here is a link to the discussion of the CD in the Steel Players section.

Russ, if you're reading this, let me know if you'd like me to squeeze you into the show. And Todd, thanks for the heads-up, hope to see you at the Jamboree some year! _________________ New FB Page: Lap Steel Licks And Stuff: https://www.facebook.com/groups/195394851800329 |

I was trying to get Russ to sign on and play. He's one of my favorite players, and a humble dude!

As Steve pointed out in the above photo, there is a short 7 in the works. But it is on an 8 string body. We went with a parallel string spacing on this one since the wide body gave us room to do so. I am wrapping up this build today or tomorrow, so I will get a photo of her, and post it.
As far as a standard short scale 6, or 7 goes. I am unsure if I will there is enough interest to bring this model into production. I recently have had one other interested in a short 6. But since this model can still be found in the vintage market it seems redundant for me to build one. Most would prefer a Vintage over a new guitar, even though the tone of my guitar compares greatly . I have had many that prefer the tone of my pans.
I know the 7's are harder to find, but still not sure if there is enough interest. If I had 8-10 people who wanted one, that would probably do it. I am a long scale guy myself and feel the 7 string long scale is the holy grail of pans, especially since they were never made . _________________ face book page:

I regret to say I’m not going to make it to Dallas after all. More importantly that means this beautiful frypan won’t be there either. Apologies to those who wanted to check it out. It really is an outstanding instrument.
Stephen, I appreciate your offer to play. Hopefully some other time. Have a great show, everyone! |
