Because I'm a forgetful musician, I keep forgetting to turn off my Goodrich 7A Super Sustain Matchbox.
Yes, I am responsible for the great 9 volt battery genocide. Yes, it's true. I'm not proud.
I'm wondering, has anyone installed a power jack on a Goodrich 7A SS Matchbox? Just curious.
I would love to power this device with an 18 volt connection from my Power Brick, but I don't want to risk ruining the device by soldering a bunch of wires without researching weather the experiment will work. |

I haven't seen the mod done but intend to do the same. There was a post showing a on off switch and an indication LED light. I don't see why a power input would be that difficult other than a bypass so the battery would not be charging. I considered leaving the battery out and using an adapter. With any luck someone else will respond with a solution. |

The guts of that pedal are very basic. It has a lot of empty space, two large pots, and room for two 9 volt batteries. The circuit board is about the size of a postage stamp. It should be a simple mod for someone who knows what they're doing. |

The 7A already has an on/off switch on it.
I think what he's looking for is a jack so he can plug in a wall wart.

I assume with the two batteries, the unit requires bi-polar, (both + and - power source, as referenced to ground). |

The batteries in those Matchbox units last forever.
I don't understand why anyone would want to mess around with a wall wart.

Yeah, I totally understand avoiding the warts I get it!
The batteries last forever if I switch the device to the "off" position after playing. If I forget to switch the device off, the batteries get run down. Since the device has no light to show you when it's on, it's easy to just walk away and leave it in the "on" position by mistake.
I have other pedals plugged into a power brick, and I would like to plug this device into the same power source. Problem solved with a simple mod (at least, I think it's a simple mod).
I just want to know if others have done it. |

I picked up a little led light for my Matchbox but have yet to install it.
It's on my bucket list though!
