I have never seen this question asked so I will come forward and just ask, "what color cloth rag is best for cleaning your steel guitar?" I have been using a yellow rag but a friend of mine started using a blue one and says it cleans better than the yellow.

Black obviously, at least if it's being used on a push-pull. However red cloth's clean faster!

I would suggest White if you want to see any results. However I'd suggest Black if you don't. Follow eather way with a Dryer Sheet to prevent Static Cling.

If this is a serious question, I'm sorry for the pun.

It really doesn't matter what color it is, but in my opinion, everyone should own a "Steel Guitar Rag" Winking
I know, it's baaaadddd.

Wayne, I shall try the static cling sheet tonight as that sounds like a good idea. Lem, I think I would also like a red cloth. Gene, I have one somewhere and I am looking for it now.

If you use the anti-static sheet, the steel won't stick to it ....

Hi Mike,

The best color is the color of the guitar, as any lint will not show up. By the way, I checked this with Harry Hess after reading your post and he agrees.

It's a lot easier in the long run to just color-coordinate your dust, cathairs and dandruff to the color of your steel. Or vice-versa, I forget which.

Plaid should cover most applications especially if you own guitars of different colors.

Steel wool dipped in battery acid. Then put it on the front lawn and hose it down. After that tie it to the roof of your truck and drive to the ocean and throw it in,retrieve it and tie it back on your truck it will be dry by the time you get home.Repeat process if neccessary.Alternatively use a white rag as white is not "a" colour it's "all" colours.
Cheers,Shane.

I prefer either ochre or puce. Can't remember for the life of me where they are in the color spectrum, I just know they were crayons in the Crayola 128 pack...
