I posted in the product section but I figure I'd post here and see what folks think. Obviously we've all got some free time now.
Personally , I'm trying to stay focused on learning some new stuff , keeping my family close and trying to be calm in this crazy time.
As some of you may know, I have been working on a rock lap steel course. In reviewing what we've done so far , I found a few loose ends and a couple other subjects that I wanted to address. We were hoping to have had that taken care of by now, but with everything going on things aren't moving as fast as we'd like. That being said, I am considering releasing the course as is, with the promise that we will polish up the loose ends and add more content.
As an incentive for support , I'm considering offering a free skype lesson on steel or lap , to anyone that signs up for the course.

Bruce thank you for spotlighting the rock style lap steel in those pop country tunes in the 90s and early 2000s. I was in a cover band at the time and my roll both as a PSG and Lap steel player was essential and kept me employed.
I've always been a fan of Duane Allman, David Lindley and Sonny Landreth too. |

Awesome news Bruce! Let me share a little history and brag on Bruce.
Many here may not know how the lap steel evolved into the Nashville session scene. It was Bruce who singlehandedly brought the Lap Steel to prominence in the Nashville studio scene... Bruce was to the lap steel what Lloyd was to the dobro on those Don Williams recordings. After a few hits with dobro every producer and artist wanted that sound behind them. So every steeler had to bring one to the gig or dates to remain viable to the times....Lloyd and then Bruce opened a huge door for all of us.
Straight steels or lap guitars were always assumed to be stylistically limited..A lap steel was the guitar known for playing the sound of Hank Sr and Eddy Arnold recordings. Bruce changed all of that.
Bruce played it aggressively rocking out. With his signature tone on a few hits lap steels became a mainstay in our road cases...Bruce made the lap steel a part of everyones arsenal.....
Everybody should take advantage of such a great opportunity. Get Bruce's take on lap for your live gigs.

I just saw this. Thank you Paul for such kind words.As we all know, in the session business, timing and luck are a big component in what hits .
As I said before, the course has a few rough edges and due to the current craziness I haven't been able to clean everything up but if I release this now I can go back in and edit. Plus ,as I said I'll throw in a free skype lesson:)

We're in the process of transcribing all of Bruce's playing into tablature. With schedules being upended for everyone, it's taking a bit longer than we had originally hoped.
We should be ready to launch within a week or so....don't want to make any hard deadlines in these uncertain times.
It will be worth the wait..it's a great intro to Rockin' Lap Steel course! |

It's a lapking steel made by Jason Dumont. Jerry Douglas made me aware of him. Gary Morse also plays his lapsteels. He does impeccable work.
