My 50-year long picking friend who plays impeccably finesse and great fingerstyle guitar always has the latest electronic pedals and paraphernalia. I accuse him of being on the "pedal a week" plan. He kids me good-naturedly because I still only use an old RV3. But, there is no accounting for taste and I love it. As a matter of fact, I plan to buy another, just in case this one may die and I don't know what I would do. Though I've tried using many DD's, I have never found another unit with the great sound the RV3 gives. At least not to my ears.

The RV-3 really is a great Steel Guitar effects pedal. It is my second choice, I have enjoyed using my Memory Man effects unit (old style, 3 or 5 knob version). However when it comes to size, convenience, sound, and dependability, the RV-3 has first place when considering all these things. However I can't say that its not "fun" trying out new units just to see if some miracle could happen to make me sound the least bit better playing the Steel Guitar.

I use one and it's great. I do however use a different rack effects at home and out, Lexicon mpx1 and Peavey profex ii, but always carry the RV3 as a security measure. Small stage jobs with just an amp usually gets the RV3 instead of amp reverb.

I got tired of dragging around a clunky effects rack for bar & dance hall gigs years ago. Somebody posted Loyd Green’s RV-3 settings on the Forum, so I bought one and I’ve been using it ever since. Yes, I also keep one for a spare too. Also, I like the way it fits in my pack seat, so I only carry an amp, pac-seat, and steel.
