I made this post because of a topic in the Steel Without Pedals section called:
"Jazz on the Steel - great tune ! Thanks Margie Mays!" Worth reading
It's about the D9 tuning. A different new world of chords when you're in C6 and just change your low E to D,
and your G to F#. That's all!
Larry Lenhart, who started the topic, gave a link to Margie Mays playing live in this D9 tuning. It's:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTAiteDfwoQ&t=2s
It took some hours, but I transcribed the theme of the first tune, Jazz on the Steel, to get used to how it works.
From 4'15" to 4'50"you see her tuning back to C6, and even explaining someone in the audience.
Maybe a first step for some of you too!
Enjoy (I did ) , regards,
Bert

Bert,
You did a really nice job on that transcription..I compared it to the tab that Margie gave me and it is nicely done...I am sure that was a great learning experience for you doing that...fun stuff. _________________ Zum Encore, Remington D8 non pedal, Hallmark Mosrite clone, Gretsch 6120 DSW, Gretsch G5210T-P90 Electromatic Jet Two 90,1976 Ibanez L5, Eastman archtop, Taylor Dreadnaught, Telonics pedal, Squire Tele, Squire Strat, Fender Tonemaster, Gold Tone 5 string banjo, Little Wonder tenor banjo, 3 Roland cubes 30s and 80, Carvin combo bass amp |
