At this time I do not plan on making a new batch. My Essential tremor has worsened and machining small parts is not fun....sorry!

| I have used some of Bill's replacements, to replace all the "Dog Bones" on a Carter D-10 and they work very well. They will last forever. Great idea Bill. |

Excellent upgrade at a very reasonable price ! 
I owned and played Carter D10s for over 10 years, loved them. The Dog Bones were the only part I didn't love. Should I acquire another I would change all the Dog Bones to Bill's replacements.

| Just ordered a couple of 5-packs. Aside from a Carter that I need to tear down and rebuild, these, with Carter bellcranks, are great for adding some slightly off-beat stuff to my Williams. |

Great idea. I would suggest some in brass, I.e.softer metal, so these wear rather than the bell crank wearing. That was the case with the old MSAs.
I’ll probably order some anyway, especially for pulls with a lot of play, where it’s easiest for the hook to come off the dog bone.
EDIT - I now see that these are aluminum, not steel, and so the wear problem that I describe above won't be an issue.

I hadn't considered bellcrank wear. The b.c.'s and the bones could be 6061 or 7075 which are different hardnesses. There was a thread comparing changer fingers from the 2 alloys.

Gene - oil will not affect the function of the set screw. I do think normal lubrication of the bone/bellcrank is a good idea. I have lubed mine with no set screw problems.

These replacement bones are made from 6061 T6 aluminum. I strongly recommend lubricating them with an appropriate PSG lubricant. These replacement bones offer substantially more bearing surface area than the brass dogbones, so the wear will be reduced accordingly. Aluminum on aluminum can gall under certain conditions - if there is no lubricant or if the bearing area is contaminated with grit, dirt, sand, etc. Keep 'em clean and lubed and they'll last a long time.

Got mine in the mail, very nicely machined. Thanks for shipping them really fast.
I'm going to apply Triflow to bellcrank and perimeter of each bone by dipping a piece of .010 string into the bottle and apply where needed, I never drip lube out of the bottle unless necessary.
Also while i'm in there i'm going to replace Torx head screws on bellcranks with stainless Allen head screws I got at Ace Hardware.

Also what size is the hex Allen wrench?

Gene - the set screws use a .050 hex key. If you cannot get one nearby, I can mail you one, but it will tate a few days to get there. Let me know.

You included a hex Allen key in the ziplock bag with the bones but I'm really good at losing those things, much better than i am at playing steel, unfortunately.

I ordered a few extra #3 pullrods from psgparts.com (Michael Yahl) but he doesn't have #3 tuning nuts right now, I got those from williams' site. I did pull the brass bones off ABC, E and F to look at them, surprising amount of pitting/galling for a lightly used e9 neck
Also started replacing Torx head screws with 7/64" Allen cap head screws

The first small batch of these I made for myself, I used the cap head hex set screws. The flat end of the screws don't "bite" into the rod very well and you have to use a lot of force to tighten them, possibly stripping the threads. The supplied set screws have a cup point and don't need to be tightened as much, also allowing for more clearance in tight spots.

Sorry, I was talking about hte Torx head screws that hold the bellcranks on, not your set screws.
The cap head screws aren't ideal for the bellcranks, they block you from removing the old style pull rod if the bone is put into lowest position, so I was going to look for dome head Phillips screws, haven't gotten around to it.

Hey Guys and Gals;
Now is a good time to replace your worn out dog bones. I've been keeping the new parts in a hermetically sealed sterile container, and will use rubber gloves and a mask while packing and shipping them for your safety.
