I saw a 1977 segment of That Nashville Music on the RFD channel tonight, and found this song from it on YouTube.
Buddy plays a great bluesy E9 solo beginning at 1:38.
(Unfortunately, whoever posted the song on YouTube missed the opening notes of Buddy’s intro—which is very different than Don Helms’ iconic intro on Patsy Cline’s 1956 version.)
Dianne Sherrill - Walkin' After Midnight 1977

--------------------------------------------
Buddy also plays a fantastic bebop C6 solo on Diane’s second song on the show “If You’ve Got the Money, Honey (I’ve Got the Time)â€.
I couldn’t find this song on YouTube.
If someone can explain how to make a video copy from a DVR, I’ll give it a try.
Otherwise, I’ll make an audio copy and try to share it with you all—it’s a BE masterpiece!

That's great. Emmons always surprised you. E9 when you'd expect C6 and visa versa! _________________ 2016 Williams D12 8 x 8, 2015 Williams D12 8 x 8, 2023 Williams S12 4 x 5, Milkman Amps, 1974 Gibson Byrdland |

I just had to stick this one in because it took me by surprise. I didn’t hear this record till many many years after it was originally released. I did not expect Buddy to do what he did but I loved it. https://youtu.be/zkoQL7YVeSY _________________ KEVIN MAUL: Airline, Beard, Clinesmith, Danelectro, Evans, Fender, GFI, Gibson, Hilton, Ibanez, Justice, K+K, Live Strings, MOYO, National, Oahu, Peterson, Quilter, Rickenbacher, Sho~Bud, Supro, TC, Ultimate, VHT, Williams, X-otic, Yamaha, ZKing.

That's another classic! It's quite clear that Emmons was under no musical restraint from the producer of the session - "Have at it, E!" _________________ Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, B-bender Teles, Martins, and a Gibson Super 400!

That bebop solo on Oh Lonesome Me was a surprise for sure. I got a good chuckle out of the Salt Peanuts quote at the end. Can you imagine the Nashville producers of the day going for that take? Sounds like E9 to me too.
Yes, E was full of pleasant surprises. Keep 'em coming, please. _________________ Excel Superb U12, MIJ Squier tele, modified Deluxe Reverb RI, Cube 80XL, self built acoustics & mandolins |

Great song and beautiful accompaniment by Buddy, one thing I noticed that Buddy had a lot of Bling on him, I miss him, what a talent. _________________ Regards, Craig

Kevin - hey man, I just had to write that one out - it's such a gas. And that classical quoin at the end is sheer wacky joy! Emmons is the king. Thanks for posting! Hope you're doing great. |

Thanks for posting this, K Maul. Buddy definitely was cutting' loose on this track - IMO, Buddy's playing is the only redeeming aspect of the recording. I like how Buddy threw in melodic hints of Dizzy Gillespie's "Salt Peanuts" and the theme of "On the Trail", the third movement from Ferde Grofé's "Grand Canyon Suite".
Keep on pickin'!
