I think It sounds like a common classic intro and is really neat , I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out this intro to Fickle Fun - Kitty Wells .
I might be in the right direction , I think I have the first couple notes figured out but something isn't sounding right .
I tuned the song up to E instead of Eb and Im playing on the 5th and 4th string
1---------------------
2---------------------
3---------------------
4-14-14--15--17-17--17-17--12-12
5-14-14--15--17-17--17-17--12-12
--------A--AR-------A-------A--------A
I'm getting a little lost with it , if someone might be able to guide me
In the right direction it would be very appreciated
If I could figure this intro out I think I'll be able to figure out the licks by knowing where I'm
At
Thank you

On second thought I think I have it figured out , it took a bit of playing around with it and using some of the lower string grips from fret 17 to 19 then up to higher strings grips then down to the pedals down E position , doesn't sound exactly Like the recording but it's close |

I think it helps to understand when a song was done, to get clues as to who might have played on it, the tuning they might have used, etc. Sometimes when you are just trying to dissect a lick or run, we don't do that. Example... I listened to this intro and my first time through tabbing it, I made it a lot more complicated then it actually is. Even my second time tabbing it trough, it was more complicated then the original, although better.
Early Kitty Wells, I think of Jimmy Day. He may not have done it, but it reminds me of him.
I stand by this: "The easiest way to play something, is probably pretty close to how it might have been played."
Here is my last run through... It may not be exact, but your not going to have the person that played this listening to you, right.
I hope this is useful, or at least gives you some ideas. If you want my other two tabs of this, let me know.

Thank you Dick ,
As I've been learning some things are easier to dissect than others and I guess it all begins on finding the voicing of where it is then play around the scale , for example it could be the pedals down , or knee lever or open position . Then find the right grips and mess around from there . Knowing who played the part is a really great tip because they all have their own little things they do differently so that just opened up the world for me right there thank you . One thing I like about this song is it has lots of flavor on the steel part hidden under the rest of the song .
If you have the time to put the others up I sure would appreciate seeing other ways to play it as well .
The way you have it tabbed out makes little more sense compared to how I thought to play it , yours seems a bit smoother .
Thank you again ,
Cody |
