Well, THAT was all kinds of awesome.

Gee, I just got a Deluxe 8 myself, and it doesn't seem to sound quite like that when I play it. Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Thanks!

Thanks all! The track is in the key of C#, which makes the main riff easier to play. Just raise the back of the bar and keep the nose of the bar on two other strings (on C6 tuning). In any other key that would require a split slant.

I don’t have tab for this. I just made a quick BIAB track and played through it a couple of times and recorded it.

I love this, sounds great!

I sure like that "syncopated" open string business (not sure if my terminology is correct). I play a thing on my regular six string guitar in Db where I do something similar, but not NEARLY as cool.

Thanks Michael, yes, I think syncopated would be the right term for that picking. It’s similar to the picking style we hear on dobro a lot. Funny though, when I play that kind of pattern on dobro no one pays much attention, but on lap steel it really stands out and catches people’s attention.

Yikes. I'll always like the way you mix the open strings pull offs and hammer ons in your arrangements.

I've struggled for years trying to play your arrangement of "God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman" in your "25 More Songs for C6th" book. But, this exercise you created puts that one to shame.

Thanks Mike and Ed. That syncopated finger roll is one that I've been playing for many years. It's similar to a banjo or dobro roll.
