Don't get me wrong, it's great to get some publicity. But I can't see why it's so difficult for "professional" writers to do a little research before they go making statements about the history of an instrument.

No! Gibson did not "invent" the pedal steel guitar in the middle of the 20th century. (And Henry Ford did not invent the automobile.)
