Does anyone know if a Marrs RGS is known for its sustain? I am thinking of purchasing one but am looking for maximum sustain in a lap steel. Since the Marrs RGS looks similar to a pedal steel I'm wondering if it has the same sound. |

My gut tells me that even if you get more than average sustain, this guitar won’t sound anything like a pedal steel. Reading about it, seems to indicate that it was designed to increase resonance, to give a more dobro-like sound.
If you want get closer to pedal steel sound, you might want to consider pedals. I think a volume pedal and a delay pedal would get you part way there.
Jerry Overstreet mentioned in his reply to your other post that he actually owned a Marss RGS at one time, hopefully he’ll chime in to relate his experience with it. _________________ Current Tunings:

The RGS is not known for long sustain. It has a an aluminum bridge that sits on a cat food can to simulate a reso guitar. In fact I played one last night. Wonderful sound, but limited in what it does. Anything Duane Marrs built is pretty cool. |
