While going through a box of old videos of the late Jim Stewart's, I found this unopened set of videos.
I had never seen or heard of these before and after checking, could not find any info about them.
So I contacted the producer of the video, my friend Bruce Bouton and he has graciously agreed to allow me to post these on YouTube for your enjoyment.
Sit back for the next 2 hours and listen to Hal Rugg, Lloyd Green, Jimmie Crawford and Weldon Myrick, discuss the early days of pedal steel and tell some road stories, hosted by the world's greatest announcer, Eddie Stubbs.
You are sure to enjoy this history of steel guitar
AND, be on the lookout for a new YouTube Channel by Bruce. Bruce is about to release a ROCK lap steel instruction video and is about to begin work on Pedal Steel Instruction, via Skype. Both of these project are surely to help you with your steel (lap or pedal) playing. Taught by one of the masters of steel guitar.
Thank you to Bruce Bouton for allowing me to post these treasures.

Marvelous! That was fascinating - two hours passed in a flash!
Many thanks, Bill, and thanks to Bruce also.
One question:
What is the very fast steel instrumental that plays at the beginning of the end-credits? There are several tracks played - it's the first one I'm interested in.
Is it 'Hot Foot' from Weldon, by any chance? _________________ Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, B-bender Teles, Martins, and a Gibson Super 400!

Thank You Bill for You Tubing these. A friend loaned me those back around 2000 or so. I believe it was a set of 2 VCR tapes. Some great stuff on steel guitar. I think this is where I heard Jimmy Crawford great quote. |

It's Pure Steel by Lloyd Green, from his album Lloyd's of Nashville. _________________ ----------------------------------

Thanks for posting these. I really enjoyed watching and they were very informative. I've been confined to the house due to a stomach virus. It was a great way to spend two hours. |

I watched it through last night. Spellbound by the way they came to pedals and styles. I treasure all of the knowledge and experience shared by these masters and savor the memories of having seen them all in my lifetime. Thanks to Bruce and Bill for renewal of this material for everyone to see. |

Thanks Bill for the memories. The sentiment came to
me when I realized that only Lloyd is still with us. This video should be shown on a continuous play at the Country Music Hall of Fame. |

I have the videos and consider them a treasure. It is very interesting to hear their stories about how pedal steel came about and their influences. |

So interesting... So much history and insight into the music that was being produced during the time when these masters were at the top of their game. Thanks for posting. |

I found it interesting that Hal did the riff on Ones on The Way 26 times when he cut it, I don’t feel so bad now... |

Great pix, Russ!
I recognize Tommy with the Budweiser and Ron Elliott (?) but who's the other Bud man? |

Frank . .
In the fifth picture is Evelyn Whitney with Leonard
Zynn, and behind is Donna Hammitt and Tommy White.
I don't know the person behind Evelyn.
In the bottom picture there is Bruce Bouton in the
center, Donna Hammitt farther back and Johnny Cox
in the foreground on the right.
I didn't see Ron Elliott there, I'm
sure I'd recollect had he been.

That looks like the same shirt Tommy wore for his instructional video all those years ago.

Found this yesterday morning and slowly making my way through it looking up all the songs as I go. I wanted to bump it for anyone that hasn't seen it, you should. |
