I learnt about Tony Locke on the recent Asleep at the Wheel thread*. I listened to Tony on a YT video posted by Stephen Cowell: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYkkHIDQRMo

A very tasteful player indeed and at around 01:50 Tony plays some slants etc., and it sounds as if he is using a "boo-wah" tone control effect but his hands are on the strings at all times. Is this a technique or just an out of sight pedal? Whatever it is, great player and a pleasure to listen to.

Most likely a volume/tone pedal. Great video, by the way. Thanks for sharing.
